Creativity Isn’t a Luxury—It’s the New Workforce Currency

Kristen Mann June 6, 2025

When I started blogging in 2011, people rolled their eyes.
When I explored podcasting back in 2018, the response was, “Who even listens to those?”
But today, in 2025, the World Economic Forum has officially confirmed what many of us intuitively knew:

Creativity is not a luxury. It’s a necessity.

In their recently released Future of Jobs Report, some of the most in-demand skills for the next decade include:

  • Creative thinking

  • Emotional intelligence

  • Resilience and flexibility

  • Leadership and social influence

  • Critical thinking and analysis

These aren’t just trendy buzzwords — they are the survival tools for a rapidly shifting workforce and world.

Why This Matters (Especially If You’re a Woman, a Creative, or a Parent)

Many of us — especially Black women — were taught to “do the work,” but not to value our own voice.

We were taught to perform.
To survive.
To serve systems and people who had no interest in seeing us whole.

Now the world is saying that our ability to think differently, to express emotionally, and to create freely is what makes us essential. That’s powerful — and personal.

But here’s the problem:
Many of us were never taught to trust our ideas.
We weren’t taught to journal, reflect, lead, or rest.
We were taught to function — not to feel.

So What Can You Do Right Now?

Start small.
Start daily.
Start where it’s quiet.

One of the simplest, most effective tools to sharpen the skills the future is demanding… is journaling.

Writing every day can:

✅ Train your brain for critical thinking
✅ Develop emotional intelligence
✅ Reduce stress and increase clarity
✅ Allow space for creative thought
✅ Help you unlearn the noise and relearn yourself

I Created a Journal Just for This

It’s called Notes to the Woman I’m Becoming — and it’s more than just blank pages.

Inside, you’ll find:

  • 30 guided journal prompts to start your self-discovery

  • Pages for brain-dumping, organizing thoughts, and tracking patterns

  • A tool you can return to again and again as you evolve

This is a soft, powerful place to land for women who want to stop performing and start transforming.

✨ Download it today for only $8 and begin creating the kind of habits that shape your mindset and sharpen your power.

Final Thoughts

The skills of the future won’t just belong to the most educated or the most connected.
They’ll belong to those who think deeper, feel stronger, and lead from within.

Don’t sleep on your creativity.
It’s not extra.
It’s your edge.
